The past few months have actually seen the release of some terrific animated movies. Mr. Peabody & Sherman is not one of them. It isn't really a bad flick, but it's far from being good. Based upon the shorts of the very same name from The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show, Mr. Peabody & Sherman is the tale of Mr. Peabody, a wizard pet dog, and Sherman, Mr. Peabody's embraced human kid. The puns are based on endorsements that most little ones will not get. They aren't delivered in a way that will make an older audience laugh either, so it's a wonder who they were making this film for. The manuscript does an excellent job at pushing away both audiences, and it's noticeable it required one more punch up. Most of the jokes don't land. Some of the very lowbrow jokes will certainly make younger children laugh, yet an older audience will certainly need to be happy walking away with merely a few chuckles. The story functions, but only just.
The computer animation was additionally the sad thing is doing not have. In most animated movies, there's usually something going on in the background that makes even the worst story worth enduring, yet Mr. Peabody & Sherman's backdrops were quite unproductive. Coupled with some characters that were obviously obtained from the DreamWorks stock, the animation here felt lazy.
